"When I first joined the gym again in November 2012 after a couple of years of being away, I was very hesitant about getting a personal trainer. I had worked with one before and while the workouts were pretty hard, I felt like I could have done just as well on my own. I didn’t learn much and didn’t feel motivated, so I was pretty pessimistic this time around. I decided to get a few sessions just to get a jump start and be accountable for at least a few workouts a week. If someone was expecting me to show up at the gym on a certain day, I’d have to be there.

 

Luckily I was paired with Steve!

 

Right from the start I felt challenged with the workouts we were doing, and Steve was very motivating. I started to learn so many things and started to love things I never thought I’d be interested in. Deadlifts? I didn’t even know what those were until a few months into training with Steve. But he had me lifting 245lbs in a relatively short time, and I was having fun doing it! I would have never tried bench presses or back squats on my own. Besides being intimidating, I would have thought I was too weak to do either. Now I look forward to lifting every day, and I’m proud whenever I am able to up the weight I’m lifting! 

 

Obviously with all the workouts, I began to lose weight. It felt great after carrying around too much for too long. After just over a year of training with Steve I’ve lost 80 pounds! No small feat. The best part is I had fun doing it and had tremendous support to help me along. Having someone to work with who has a positive and light-hearted attitude is very helpful and Steve possesses both of those traits. At the same time he knows when I need to get serious to achieve a goal.

 

I can’t imagine my life without the gym now, and I have Steve to thank for opening my eyes to so many aspects of fitness and health. I wouldn’t want to train with anyone else!"

"I have been working with Steve for just under a year. I came to Steve with several goals in mind. I wanted to lose weight, gain strength, challenge myself with new routines and most importantly become my best self. I have a stressful job and Cardiac disease is very prevalent in my family. As I get older staying fit and eating well are very high priorities in my life. Steve has helped me achieve these goals in every way and then some! I’ve always enjoyed my time in the gym but being self taught, things were getting stale and I was certainly hitting the plateau. Steve has taught me not only new movements and how to better link these to get maximum results, he goes deeper. He explains the WHY behind each movement. "I was a new mom, just had my son 2 months when I realized I have hit maximum weight gain after having 2 kids being at 205 pounds -height 5.6- that when I decided to seek professional help to regain my body & maintain a healthy weight that will boost the quality of my life & regain my self confidence regarding my outer look. I had dropped by at a gym -where to my best luck- Steve was working there as a personal trainer. I explained to him that I need to lose the baby weight in as little time as possible and most importantly not ending up with loose extra flaps of skin!! Seemed impossible to reach both goals yet I was hopeful that there would be a way to establish both. I started my training sessions with Steve and after two months of biweekly sessions with him, working out as he instructed me for the other 4-5 days of the week, incorporating resistance training that he taught me (the correct form & posture), plus the specific cardio instructions by him that were not that long yet very effective and topping with that the valuable nutritious advices,  not only did I reach my goal with a super toned body, I was/am able to maintain that even after having my third baby last year!! I am so grateful to Steve and am so proud of myself for seeking his professional advice because  I had joined a couple of other gyms and NO PERSONAL TRAINER works with as much devotion to his clients as Steve. It was worth every penny and it's the best investment choice I have ever made on the fitness level. I would definitely do it again and I would definitely take extra PT sessions with Steve to further sharpen my fitness skills & stay in the best shape possible!

"I met Steve in summer of 2013; at the time I was in horrible shape, had no concept of how to properly work out and I would have laughed in your face if you talked about healthy eating. I came to Steve with a goal in mind of building my strength; he started me with all major lifts, (squats, deadlifts and bench press) and we built a strong foundation which has ultimately led to my success in the gym. I have been in the mining industry since I was 18. My job is very labour intensive and sometimes requires me to scale mountainsides and various rock faces. Steve has always been a pleasure to work with… he trained me years ago on overall health/fitness, but recently I came to him specifically to focus on learning cleans. He’s been a great coach and instructor for several reasons… his own high-level of fitness and his mastery of the technique allows him to lead by example, his passion for Olympic lifts in particular allows for a rigorous and microscopic dissection of the movement, and overall he’s a great guy and always fun to spend time with and very enthusiastic and encouraging.
